ENCINO (CBSLA) — A man died Wednesday evening after a trench collapsed during construction work on a home in Encino.
Los Angeles County Fire responded to 5055 N. Louise Avenue at 6:25 p.m. where a man was said to be buried chest high inside of a construction trench.
Fire officials say the victim fell approximately ten feet into a partially collapsed trench located on residential property to do work on an underground sewer line.
The worker was reported to be in grave condition and later pronounced dead on the scene.
The trench collapse was strong enough that four hours later, the victim’s body still had not been recovered.
The victim’s name and age were not disclosed.
