Police: Woman Armed With Gun Wounded In Officer-Involved Shooting In Reseda
RESEDA (CBSLA) — Authorities say officers opened fire on a woman who was armed with a gun in the Reseda area on Sunday morning.
Around 7:37 a.m., officers from the West Valley division responded to a radio call of a woman with a gun, according to Sgt. Barry Montgomery of the LAPD media relations division.
Upon arriving to the 8000 block of Hesperia Avenue, officers encountered the female. CBS2/KCAL9 reporter Greg Mills was told the woman was pointing the gun at her head.
The officers, according to Sgt. Montgomery, attempted to de-escalate the situation and asked the woman to drop the weapon.
"As they continued to verbalize with her, an officer-involved shooting occurred," the sergeant said.
The unidentified woman was transported to the hospital where she was listed in stable condition.
No officers were injured.
The sergeant said a gun was recovered at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
A distraught-looking man was outside the home before leading investigators inside. Police would not confirm the woman lived at the location but said she had "a connection to the house."
