Facebook And Instagram Down Globally In Apparent Outage

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) - Facebook and Instagram are down for many users across the globe.

Reports of the outage began to spike around 9 a.m. PST and continued through the morning hours, while Facebook addressed the issues via Twitter Wednesday, saying, "We're aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps. We're working to resolve the issue as soon as possible."

A message on Facebook's login page states that the site "is down for required maintenance right now, but you should be able to get back on within a few minutes."

Users are reporting that they are having trouble posting to the sites, while others are receiving an error code or can't log in at all.

People took to Twitter Wednesday morning to express their concerns after not being able to log in to the social media platforms.

It appears users all over the world are reporting problems.

Facebook later confirmed that the issue is not related to a DDoS attack, in which hackers overwhelm the site with fake traffic, reports explain.
