GRANADA HILLS (CBSLA) – An overturned semi-truck shut down several lanes of the eastbound 118 Freeway in Granada Hills and gridlocked traffic for more than six hours Monday.
The crash occurred at 5:44 a.m. on the eastbound 118 Freeway at Woodley Avenue, according to California Highway Patrol.
The circumstances of the crash and the number of people injured were not confirmed. On its incident information page, CHP reported that at least one person may have been trapped. It’s unclear if any other vehicles were involved in the crash.
A Sig Alert was issued and four of the five eastbound lanes were shut down, CHP reported. Video from Sky2 showed a major traffic backup. The freeway was not fully reopened until just before 1 p.m.
