Teen Critical After Being Hit By Car In San Juan Capistrano

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO (CBSLA) – A 14-year-old boy is fighting for his life after he was struck by a car Tuesday morning outside San Juan Hills High School.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department reports that the boy was hit on Via Pamplona at around 7:30 a.m.

Parents have complained to several city and law enforcement agencies saying the intersection is dangerous and a crossing guard is needed.

The boy  was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is in critical condition, OCSD said. The nature of his injuries and the circumstances of the crash were not confirmed.

The 48-year-old driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Parents say people are often speeding, there are no stop lights and no stop signs proceeding the crosswalk.

"I'd love to see some changes and one of things that could be done pretty quickly is for them to put some speed bumbs, before the intersection and right before the crosswalk,"  Trevor Seemann said.
