Former NFL Star Brandon Browner Arrested In La Verne

LA VERNE (CBSLA.com) – Former NFL cornerback Brandon Browner was arrested in the eastern Los Angeles County city of La Verne Monday night on suspicion of making criminal threats.

Browner, 33, of Pomona was taken into custody about 8:30 p.m. at White and McKinley avenues, La Verne police Lt. Justin Newman said.

He was booked on suspicion of making criminal threats, a felony, and was released late Monday on $50,000 bail, Newman said. No court date was immediately set.

Newman declined to release further details on the crime.

Browner played football at Oregon State and was a founding member of the Seattle Seahawks' "Legion of Boom" secondary, playing for the team from 2011 to 2013. He spent the 2014 season with the New England Patriots, helping them win Super Bowl XLIX over Seattle, and then spent the 2015 season with the New Orleans Saints.

He signed with the Seahawks last off-season and tried to make the team as a safety, but was cut in the spring and has not been signed by an NFL team since.
