Crews Quickly Control 2-Acre Brush Fire In Rowland Heights

LA HABRA HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com) – Firefighters watched over homes Wednesday after containing a brush fire on the Rowland Heights-La Habra Heights border to two acres, authorities said.

The Harbor Fire was reported about 11 p.m. Tuesday at Fullerton Road and Harbor Boulevard, said Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman. The fire was 30 percent contained as of midnight, according to LACFD.

Three water-dropping helicopters and 12 fire engines were sent to the scene, officials said. Some firefighters were assigned to nearby structures in case the fire spread that way.

The forward progress of the fire was stopped about midnight and firefighters were extending lines of cleared vegetation and putting out hot spots, Pittman said. No injuries were reported.

There was no word on a cause. It was one of several dozen blazes that broke out across the Southland overnight Tuesday.
