Police Pursue Alleged Murder Suspect From El Monte To Boyle Heights

EL MONTE (CBSLA.com)  —  Police pursued a murder suspect Thursday evening throughout the San Gabriel Valley, according to authorities.

The chase started about 6:15 p.m. in El Monte and didn't end until the suspect was PIT-ted by the CHP in Boyle Heights around 7:35 p.m.

There were two passengers in the vehicle, reported Sky 9's Stu Mundel.

CHP and police tried several previous PIT maneuvers to no avail. Suzie Suh, anchoring for KCAL 9 News said "there have been at least five."

The chase wended through El Monte, Monterey Park, Baldwin Park, East LA, Downtown Los Angeles.

At the start of the chase, officials said the suspect was wanted for attempted murder. They later said the suspect was wanted for murder. At one point the suspect was described as a stolen car suspect.

Officials would not confirm what the three suspects were wanted for after they were taken into custody.

The suspect drove his Honda Accord recklessly but also appeared to signal several times.

CBS2's Jeff Nguyen reported from the scene.

Police told him the three suspects -- all residents of El Monte -- were all teens. The driver is 16, his two passengers both 15.

Witnesses like Anthony Martinez saw what happened when the chase was over.

"I start parking my car," he said, "and I just see like a lot of cops come in. People started running and the cops just armed up."

People who didn't run hit the ground diving for cover, even though no shots were fired.

"I hit the ground too, cuz, when bullets go out you got to be careful. A bullet that gets lost is something you don't want to get in the way of, you feel me?"  said Alejandro Vasquez.
