Lakewood Woman Among The Reported Missing In Tragic Oakland Fire

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  —   A Lakewood woman is among the missing and unaccounted for in the tragic Oakland blaze that has claimed at least 30 lives.

CBS2's Greg Mills reports that loved ones are dealing with anxious moments.

He reported from Lakewood where missing Vanessa Plotkin hails from.

A neighbor told him that many in the Plotkin family flew to Oakland this morning.

Her father, Gary, told the San Francisco Chronicle, "We are beside ourselves. This is just like a nightmare. I can't believe this."

The family said they last heard from 21-year-old Vanessa about 11 p.m. Friday. Her friends wrote on social media that she was going to a rave at the warehouse called the Ghost Ship.

Lil Funyuns has since tweeted: Please keep Vanessa in your thoughts and prayers. She's my best friend."

A friend of the Plotkins who has known them for years says they have four adult children who all grew up in this house -- two older sons and Vanessa and her twin sister.

Vanesssa is in her third year at Cal Berkeley. She's a sociology major.  The family friend described the sisters as sweet, very lovely and smart girls.

missingDavid Cline of Santa Monica was also reported missing.

Yesterday, his brother Neil took to social media to ask if anyone had seen his sibling.

"My brother Favid went missing after this event last night," he posted on Facebook. "Friends and family are doing everything we can."

He then thanked people for their support.

Sadly, Sunday evening the city of Oakland confirmed that Cline was among the first of seven dead to be officially confirmed.
