Winter-Like Storm To Bring Scattered Showers, Cold Temperatures To Southland

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A second storm system is moving into Southern California Sunday, bringing with it scattered showers, chilly temperatures, and high winds.

Highs Sunday are expected to remain in the 60s and in the 40s in the higher elevations due to a cold air mass.

Snow levels are expected to drop to 4500 feet, and gusty winds are also forecast through the passes and the mountains.

A host of advisories and warnings are expected to go into effect at 9 a.m.

The National Weather advisory has issued a winter weather advisory for Los Angeles and Ventura counties through 6 a.m. Monday, and through 10 p.m. Sunday for San Bernardino and Riverside counties.

Wind advisories have also posted through 9 p.m. for the LA Basin, valleys, and the high desert, and a high wind warning remains in effect for the High Desert through 10 p.m.

The alerts are the result of a storm system that is expected to sweep the region.

Elsewhere, in the Grapevine, there is concern that there could be ice on the roadways later in the day with precipitation.

Additionally, ski resorts in Big Bear Lake opened for business this weekend. Mountain High in Wrightwood indicates that it plans to open on Tuesday.
