85th Annual Hollywood Christmas Parade Kicks Off With Music, Festivities

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com)   —   The 85th annual Hollywood Christmas Parade was held Sunday from 6-8 p.m.

Before the parade, 10 all-stars performed in concert including Grand Marshal Olivia Newton-John, WAR, Eric Benet, Kenny G, Cyndi Lauper and Scotty McCreery.

Actors Erik Estrada, Dean Cain, Montel Williams and travel expert Laura McKenzie are the parade hosts.

More than 80 celebrities were expected to attend including Santa Claus, cast members of CBS' "The Bold and the Beautiful," "The Young and the Restless," as well as stars of "Blackish," the CW's "Masters of Illusion," actor Jack Scalia, Rep. Adam Schiff and Gumby.

CBS2's Erica Nochlin reported from the event and said even before it started "you can see a lot of people are in the holiday spirit already."

The cold weather was also cooperating and putting people in the holiday mood.

Seventeen marching bands from around the country will also perform including the Los Angeles Catholic Schools Band from Torrance and the Los Angeles Police Emerald Society Pipes and Drums from Fullerton.

Media sponsors include The CW, "Entertainment Tonight" and KOST 103.5.

The Christmas Parade will premiere as a two-hour primetime special on The CW, Friday, December 16 at 8:00 p.m.PT.
