COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — Authorities are investigating an apparently gang-related triple homicide in Compton.

Three men were found shot to death in an equipment shed at Raymond Street Park in Compton at about 11 p.m. Tuesday night, Los Angeles County sheriff’s spokeswoman Deputy Kimberly Alexander said.

The bodies were found when someone spotted the equipment shed door ajar. A witness said the men were not tied up, but that there were several cartridges on the floor of the shed.

Three Hispanic men were pronounced dead at the scene. The men, who all suffered gunshot wounds to the chest, were believed to be in their late teens or early 20s.

Their names were withheld, pending notification of their families.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell said the shooting was probably gang-related.

Compton Mayor Aja Brown said he was “deeply saddened” by the news of the shooting deaths.

“This is a very sad moment for the city of Compton and our hearts go out to their families. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the
young men killed,” he said.

Anyone with information on the crime can call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500, or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
