Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts Named N.L. Manager of the Year

LOS ANGELES  (CBSLA.com) — Dave Roberts of the Los Angeles Dodgers has won the National League Manager of the Year award after leading the team into the National League Championship series.

In his first season at the helm, he led the Dodgers to their fourth consecutive N.L West title. The Dodgers were eliminated in the NLCS by the Chicago Cubs who went on to win the World Series.

Roberts pulled together a 90-plus win season with a team plagued by injuries which included ace Clayton Kershaw.

The Baseball Writers' Association of America gave Roberts 108 points with 16 first-place votes. Joe Maddon of the Cubs was second with 70 points and eight first-place votes.

Roberts joins Tommy Lasorda as the only Dodgers to win the award.
