MANHATTAN BEACH (CBSLA.com)  —   The search for a missing diver who was last seen Sunday morning at El Segundo Beach will resume Monday morning, authorities said.

The diver was last seen about three miles north of the Manhattan Beach Pier. The missing diver has been identified as 45-year-old Jeff Holly.

The missing diver was last seen diving off El Segundo Beach around 10 a.m.

Lifeguards and the Coast Guard were searching near the Hyperion Sewage Plant as well and the area is popular among lobster divers.

"This area is known for lobster diving, and we have a lot of different structures and pipes that the lobsters like to hang around," said Lifeguard Specialist Spencer Parker. "So it's known to a lot of lobster divers."

Holly is described as an experienced diver who knew the area well.

He was was reported missing by a friend who was on the same boat. He said Holly went for a dive and never came up.

"Any time we get called out for a missing swimmer or missing diver, yeah it's tough," Parker said. "Especially for the guys who are out there who discover the person in question."
