For those families that have a kid that loves more unique items, but you can’t shop at the mall Hot Topic for this youth, let alone a department store like Wal-Mart or Target, shop at a specialty store like Necromance. This store has some great deals for Black Friday. Here you’ll find everything from freeze-dried reptiles to old glass eyes. It’s kind of like stumbling into the Addams Family home, only you can also buy the creepy stuff you find.
Wonders of the World
1460 Lincoln Blvd.
Santa Monica, CA 90401
It’s almost Black Friday, and you want to buy a gift that cannot be found anywhere else. Well, at Wonders of the World you can purchase actual meteorites and fossils. The store’s website states, “Everything is real. There are no replicas or dyed items.” This is where you go to purchase a unique gift for those that like a little something out of the ordinary. No boring gift cards here. No gaming systems or big screens. Just strange and wonderful real wonders of the world. Visiting here will be one Black Friday you won’t soon forget.
2395 Glendale Blvd.,
Silver Lake, CA 90039
Although we may not yet know what Black Friday deals they’ll have, Rockaway Records has been a vinyl collector’s dream destination since 1979. You can find rare albums there, yes. You can also discover rare CDs and DVDs, as well. And if you’re a bargain hunter, check out their $2.99 bin. Oh, and you can bet there will be Black Friday deals you won’t find anyplace else in town, or maybe even the country.
8818 Sunset Blvd.
Book Soup is the coolest bookstore in Los Angeles, and so it will likely have the coolest deals come Black Friday. Located right on Sunset Blvd., it’s the ‘go to’ location for celebrity signings. It’s also a bookstore where you might spot a Hollywood star. Who knows what deals it will have on Black Friday, but above all it proves Hollywood knows how to read — and buys books, even during the holidays.
Soap Plant Wacko
4633 Hollywood Blvd.
And just to throw a real wildcard into the mix, why not check out the Wacko/Soap Plant on (still) wacko Hollywood Boulevard? Here you can find strange books and unique toys that no one on your holiday gift list will even know they want. It’s about as far away from the mall culture as you can get. Rather than celebrating plain old Black Friday, why not turn into a Weird Black Friday?
