First Lawsuit Filed In Deadly Casino Bus Crash

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The families of two men who died in a bus crash near Palm Springs are suing the bus company and the estate of its driver, who was among the 13 people killed.

Attorneys for the families of Gustavo Garcia and Tony Mai filed a wrongful-death suit Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court against USA Holiday and the estate of bus company owner and driver Teodulo Elias Vides.

The suit is the first in Sunday's crash on Interstate 10 near Palm Springs. The bus was heading back to Los Angeles from Red Earth Casino.

The California Highway Patrol says the bus was traveling at "freeway speeds" when it slammed into a semitrailer moving at 5 mph because of utility work.
