Car Hits Pole, Flips Over In WeHo; Woman Killed, 3 Critically Injured

WEST HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A 23-year-old woman was killed and three others were injured Friday in a suspected DUI crash in West Hollywood.

The accident was reported around 11:54 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Fountain and Stanley avenues, according to sheriff's deputies.

A preliminary investigation revealed a silver 2004 two-door Infiniti was traveling westbound in the 7800 block of Fountain Avenue at a high rate of speed when the vehicle clipped a parked BMW, causing the driver to lose control.

The car then struck a concrete light pole and a fence before it flipped over.

Four people traveled inside the car.

One female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is being withheld pending family notification.

The other occupants were transported to a hospital in critical condition.

Hospital officials say the patients have since been stabilized.

According to sheriff's deputies, Fountain Avenue was closed between Spaulding and Curson avenues.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
