Arrest Made In Santa Ana Street Race That Ended With Crash Into Bicyclist

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — A 20-year-old Garden Grove man was arrested Friday in connection with a street race that ended with a crash into a bicyclist, who was critically injured.

Police say Christopher Rosalino Carrasco, 20, was arrested after he returned to the scene of the crash about two hours later and was interviewed by officers. Carrasco is being held on $50,000 bail and is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Monday.

Witnesses told police that two vehicles, a white truck and a black passenger car, were racing northbound on Fairview Street from Civic Center in Santa Ana. The truck struck a bicyclist who was riding near the east curb line of Fairview north of the riverbed and knocked him down, causing him significant injuries, police said.

The bicyclist remains in critical condition.

Carrasco was driving a white 2013 Chevy truck when he returned to the scene of the crash. Police say he contacted the investigating officers and told them he was involved in the crash.
