Fire Burns 3-Story Mansion In Mt. Washington

MT. WASHINGTON (CBSLA.com) — Firefighters battled a house fire that left at least one person injured in Mt. Washington Thursday night. An 84-year-old man remained unaccounted for as of late Thursday.

Roommates feared he has died. Anna Orozco said he managed the house. "He was full of life. I'm scared that he's gone. I just see everything in the back, and it's black," she cried. "I don't think he's going to make it."

The roommates said 10 to 15 people lived in the three-story, six-bedroom mansion that caught fire at 4057 N. Sea View Avenue around 8:35 p.m.

A 74-year-old woman was taken to a hospital in fair condition to be treated for smoke inhalation. She was expected to be recover.

Firefighters said they had to wait until morning to get inside the charred building to search for the missing elderly man.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

The house was listed for sale on Zillow.com, which said there was a foreclosure auction last week.
