Burglar Stabs Woman, Her 2 Sons In Their Costa Mesa Apartment

COSTA MESA (CBSLA.com) — A woman and her two teenage sons were stabbed in Costa Mesa Tuesday night.

Neighbors say the victims were attacked when they walked in on a man who was burglarizing their apartment in the 1900 block of Wallace Avenue.

A neighbor ran after the attacker and slowed him down just long enough for police officers to catch up with the suspect and arrest him.

"We just heard screaming. We got worried after hearing one really loud scream. We walked over there and saw a lady laying on the floor," Shanes Edeleeuw recalled.

"For the older one, he has stab wounds here," Bella Rosette said as she pointed at her stomach. "The younger brother, he had one here in the back. And the mom, I am not really sure. She was unconscious. She had a lot blood around here in this area. It was pretty scary stuff like this happens."

A Costa Mesa police officer was hurt while trying to take the suspect into custody. He was treated at the scene and is expected to be okay.

The mom and her two sons, age 11 and 17, were taken to a hospital. The extent of their injuries are unknown.
