Carjacker Runs Over Man Dropping Off Mom At Hospital

HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Police are looking for a man suspected of carjacking a vehicle and hitting the car's driver just after he escorted his mother into a Huntington Beach hospital.

The alleged carjacking occurred around noon on Sept. 6 as the victim left his car running while he walked his mother into the Hoag Health Center on Beach Blvd. south of Yorktown, according to Huntington Beach police.

As the suspect was attempting to drive away, the victim stood in front of his vehicle and was ran over and thrown off the hood of his car, police said.

Officers later recovered the car about a mile away in a residential tract and returned it to the owner, according to police.

Investigators say the victim believes the suspect may be homeless. He's described as a white man between 30-35 years old, 5'9", 140 lbs, brown hair, grey stubble beard, and was wearing a red flannel shirt, a black hat, and slipper-style shoes.

Anyone with information on the incident was urged to call the Huntington Beach Police Information Hotline at (714) 375-5066 or visit their Facebook page and click on the Submit a Crime Tip link.
