5-Year-Old Woodland Hills Boy Identified As Victim Killed In Boating Accident

WOODLAND HILLS (CBSLA.com) — Sheriff's deputies continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a 5-year-old boy who was run over by a boat on Lake Arrowhead.

According to the coroner's office, Gideon Zilberstein, of Woodland Hills, has been identified as the victim.

Paramedics were sent to the lake around 4:30 p.m. Sunday for report of a boating accident, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

A preliminary investigation revealed Zilberstein was riding in the bow section of the boat while it pulled his mother as she water skied.

At one point, the child fell over the side and into the water, and was struck by the boat as it turned to retrieve his mother who also fell in the water.

Zilberstein was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives do not believe intoxication was factor in the case.

Zilberstein was wearing a flotation device when he fell into the water.

The incident remains under investigation.
