The northbound 710 between the Santa Ana (5) and Pomona (60) freeways will be shut down from 10 p.m. on Fridays until 4 a.m. on Mondays starting this weekend, and will repeat until the weekend of December 16-19, except for the weekends of Columbus Day, Halloween, Veterans Day and Thanksgiving.
Detours will be posted. Caltrans says the northbound I-710 connector to the northbound 5 Freeway will remain open.
Caltrans says motorists should instead use the 110 or 605 freeways to get around the closure.
“We are expecting maximum delays now, of about two and a half hours,” Caltrans Engineer Denis Takayama said. Anyone who doesn’t avoid the northbound 710 could find themselves stuck in as much as five miles of traffic, he said.
