Chocolate-Covered Bacon And Other Sweets Are A Hit At LA County Fair

POMONA (CBSLA.com) — Fried food, farm animals and fun – it's time for the LA County Fair.

CBSLA checked in on the fair hours after opening Friday. Fireball infused donuts, cherry pop rocks and chocolate-covered bacon are just a few of the many items that will satisfy your sweet tooth.

The fair opened at noon at the Fairplex in Pomona and goes through Sept. 25. For the Labor Day weekend, the fair is open until midnight Friday, opens at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday, but closes Monday at 10 p.m.

New attractions include an ice skating rink called The Igloo, a dinosaur exhibition called Jurassic Planet and "Our Body," an educational exhibit using actual human bodies and organs.  These attractions cost an extra $5.

But there are plenty of other attractions included with fair admission, including the National Parks Museum, a historic trains exhibit and "The Farm", where children can learn more about growing food, healthy eating and urban gardening.

The fair is going all in on public transportation and ride-share services this year, offering discounts on admission for fair-goers who take the Azusa Gold Line and $20 off your first Lyft ride with an LA County Fair coupon code.
