Da Bears! Woman Says She Enjoys Their Frequent Visits

PASADENA (CBSLA.com)  — There are plenty of videos, pictures and stories about the bears that frequent an Eaton Canyon neighborhood in Pasadena.

CBSLA got a close-up Thursday when SKY2 shot video of a 300-pound California black Mama Bear and her two 18-month-old cubs going for a swim in Barbara Burlison's pool.

Burlison showed CBSLA her pool, where those bears were having a little fun and says they are regulars.

"Oh, yes, they're here all the time," Burlison said. "I thought it was adorable. I was happy."

Since then, she has taken countless pictures and videos of the bears.

"I think people are seeing them more often," neighbor Tom Takash said.

Experts from California Fish and Wildlife say there's no science to say more Bears are in the area now or that the drought has them visiting homes and pools more often. Instead, more people are snapping photos and videos and posting them on social media.

"The bears were here long before we were," Burlison said."We need to share this planet, and I don't mind sharing what's in the dumpster."

Experts say never approach the bears and don't dare take a selfie with them.
