Man Suspected Of Stalking, Attacking Woman At OC Mall Surrenders To Police

COSTA MESA (CBSLA.com) — A 20-year-old man who is suspected of stalking and attacking a woman at a Costa Mesa mall has turned himself in to police.

According to police, the Orange resident decided to surrender after realizing his photo was circulating on social media in connection with the crime.

The suspect has not been taken into custody just yet. He is currently being questioned.

Authorities have not released his identity as the investigation is ongoing.

Surveillance video captured the attack, which occurred just after 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, in an outdoor parking lot at South Coast Plaza.

The clip showed the man stalking a 24-year-old woman and following her to her car.

According to police, the victim was able to fend off her attacker. She did not sustain injuries during the incident.

Any additional victims have been urged to come forward.
