Riverside County GOP Tweets, Deletes 'I'm Ready For Hillary' Hangman Image

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — The verified account for the Republican Party of Riverside County tweeted out images of a bloody hangman holding a noose above the words, "I'm Ready for Hillary."

The tweets, which were captured in a screenshot by the Riverside Press-Enterprise, were sent out Wednesday, but have since been deleted. They were sent in response to Corinne Parker, who had tweeted out an image that said "Republicans for Hillary."

Parker, who lives in Riverside, said she tweeted the image to the Riverside County GOP as a tongue-in-cheek attempt to find the sign pictured for a Republican friend who decided he would vote for Hillary Clinton.

"Day or two later, I got that and it was a shock. I was stunned," Parker said. "First image I see is an executioner with blood on his apron, and I'm thinking, 'what? Dark ages?' It took a moment to comprehend. I thought it was vicious and kind of sick."

Parker said she is involved with a local women's Democratic club and active with her union, so she's aware of the current political climate -- but she was still taken aback by the image sent in response to her inquiry.

"I was disappointed," she said. "Even though I didn't expect a response, that was just too much."

Riverside County GOP Chairman Scott Mann said he was first made aware of the "derogatory Tweet" when the newspaper called him for comment.

"I was horrified and had the Tweet taken down immediately. While some may think it was political satire, it clearly has no place in American political dialogue," Mann said in an emailed statement to the Press-Enterprise.
