HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA.com) — The Vans U.S. Open of Surfing has returned to the shores of Orange County.

The free event, which is being held at the iconic Huntington Beach Pier, has evolved into one of the largest action sports festivals in the world, featuring surfing, skateboarding and BMX.

In addition to the sports competition, artist exhibits, beach activities and interactive displays will also be featured.

Thousands of fans are expected to flock to the area over the weekend.

The festivities kicked off July 23 and will conclude on Sunday.
