Tamara Rummel, 49, was last seen on May 20 and is a mother of four and grandmother of six, Los Angeles County sheriff's officials said. Her daughter told detectives she last saw her mother when she dropped her off at the family home in an unincorporated area of Covina.

Investigators believe Rummel left the home about 90 minutes later as a passenger in an unfamiliar SUV with an unknown person. The last confirmed sighting of Rummel was on May 20 at an ATM in Covina.

The ATM captured images of Rummel with a man as she withdrew money, detectives said, but its not known if this was the same person who left the house with her. Detectives say it was also suspicious that Rummel's cell phone activity ended hours after the ATM transaction.

Rummel, who retired 10 years ago as a retired media director from a resource center for parents with special needs children, was described as a responsible homeowner who is frequently in touch with family and friends, so a lack of communication over more than two months is out of character.

She is known to family and friends as "Tammy," and is described as a white woman with light brown hair, blue eyes, 5-foot-3 and 145 pounds.

The man captured on the ATM surveillance video wore a white T-shirt and baseball cap with an unknown logo on the front. No further description of him was available.

Anyone with information about Rummel or her whereabouts can call Sergeants Ken Perry or Dan McElderry at (323) 890-5500.
