Dr. Dre Will Not Be Charged In Malibu Confrontation
MALIBU (CBSLA.com) — Prosecutors say rap mogul Dr. Dre will not face criminal charges in connection with a confrontation outside his Malibu home.
District Attorney spokesman Ricardo Santiago told the Los Angeles Times, "We declined due to lack of sufficient evidence."
Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report Monday that a man had threatened another man in a parked car with a handgun in the 22000 block of Pacific Coast Highway. Deputies detained a man matching the description provided by the accuser, handcuffing him and detaining him briefly in a patrol car as they investigated the incident.
The man who was detained turned out to be Andre Young, more widely known as Dr. Dre, who said the man in the car had parked directly in front of his home and blocked his driveway. Dr. Dre said he asked the driver to move, which he did, but then immediately returned to park again near the same location in the median in front of the rapper's home.
According to the sheriff's department, the accuser insisted the rap mogul had a handgun and threatened he would be hurt if he did not leave. Deputies said no weapon was found at the scene and released Dre, who denied threatening the driver.
