PALOS VERDES ESTATES (CBSLA.com) — Residents in about 200 homes in Palos Verdes Estates have been warned to not drink or cook with their tap water until further notice.

California Water Service issued a notice Monday night that a breach at a remote storage tank might have rendered the water unsafe. Residents were asked to use bottled water and save their receipts for reimbursement.

The affected areas include parts of Via Horquilla, Via Elevado, Via Campesina, Via Lazo and Via Somonte.

Officials with the water agency can call (310) 257-1400 or go to www.calwater.com for updates.

The state Division of Drinking Water was investigating the incident with local law enforcement.
