Police Respond To Man With Gun Call In Harbor Gateway

HARBOR GATEWAY (CBSLA.com) — Police responded to a 12-story office building in Harbor Gateway Thursday following reports of an unidentified man holding a heavy assault rifle.

Police could not confirm to CBS2's Dave Lopez if they found a suspect but said no shots have been fired.

SWAT evacuated the building as a precaution and executed a search of the premises.

Around 1 p.m, the LAPD said they received a call that someone on the second floor of the Pacific Point building said someone was trying to rob them.

Lopez spoke to two office workers who were told to leave the area.

"I just saw a bunch of police cars come," said one man, "and I saw police with automatic weapons, and I actually left my office, went outside and tried to see what was going on.  I heard various things, like there was a guy with a rifle on the second floor."

Another man told Lopez police told him "You have to leave."

They told that man "There was a guy on the second floor with a rifle."
