Vice President Biden To Attend Espy Awards

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Vice President Joe Biden will make a brief trip to Los Angeles Wednesday to attend the Espy Awards.

Biden will be in San Diego earlier in the day, speaking at the 10th Avenue Marine Terminal to tout the record of President Barack Obama's administration on trade enforcement.

Biden is expected to talk about how the administration's success at winning trade enforcement cases with the World Trade Organization has helped remove trade barriers and increase export opportunities worth billions of dollars to American workers, farmers and business, his office said.

The vice president will then travel to Los Angeles, where he will present the Jimmy V Perseverance Award to Turner Sports broadcaster Craig Sager at the Espy Awards ceremony at the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles.

Sager, known for the colorful suits he wears while working the sidelines of NBA games, is being honored for his continued work while battling leukemia.

After presenting the award, Biden is expected to fly to Honolulu, Hawaii for a trilateral meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Shinsuke Sugiyama and Republic of Korea First Vice Foreign Minister Lim Sung-nam.

Biden's visit is expected to affect traffic in the Los Angeles area Wednesday, including:

The area around Imperial Highway between Vista Del Mar and Sepulveda Boulevard from 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

 The area around Figueroa Street & Flower Street between Third Street and Wilshire Boulevard from 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

The area around Flower Street between Fourth Street and Venice Boulevard from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

 The area around Pico Boulevard between Hope Street and the 110 Harbor Freeway from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

The area around L.A. Live Way between Pico Boulevard and Olympic Boulevard from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

 The area around Chick Hearn Court between the 110 Harbor Freeway and Figueroa Street from 7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

The area around Imperial Highway between Vista Del Mar and Sepulveda Boulevard from 7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

 Closures / Restrictions (no bus routes impacted by the hard closures)

Eastbound Fourth Street (the lower 2 lane portion) will be closed between Figueroa Street and Flower Street, on the north side of the Westin Bonaventure Hotel, from 4:30p.m. - 6:30p.m.

Eastbound Fourth Street (the upper portion) from Beaudry Avenue, west of the 110 Harbor Freeway to Hope Street, will be restricted to vehicles and buses only from 4:30p.m. - 6:30p.m.
