Serena Williams Wins Wimbledon To Earn Her 22nd Grand Slam Title

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Serena Williams has tied Steffi Graf after earning her 22nd Grand Slam title with a win at Wimbledon.

Williams now trails Margaret Court's all-time Grand Slam title record of 24 by just two.

Williams defeated Angelique Kerber in straight sets, 7-5 and 6-3.

"Yeah, it's been incredibly difficult not to think about it. I had a couple of tries this year," Williams said.

"But it makes the victory even sweeter to know how hard I worked for it," she added.

Williams also opened up about the recent shootings across the nation after her victory.

"No one deserves to lose their life, doesn't matter what color they are, where they're from. We're all human. We have to learn that we have to love one another. It's going to take a lot of education and a lot of work, I think, to get to that point," she said.

To top off her title, she paired up with her sister to win the Wimbledon doubles tournament as well -- their sixth career women's doubles championship at Wimbledon.
