2 Bodies Found In Burn Zone Of Angeles National Forest Wildfire

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com/AP) — Homicide detectives Friday investigated the deaths of two people whose scorched remains were found along a trail in the Angeles National Forest.

Los Angeles County sheriff's officials located the remains Thursday night in an area that was scorched by a major wildfire, which erupted on June 20.

CBS2's Jasmine Viel reported the bodies were located in very rough, steep and rugged terrain.

The blaze burned more than 80 square miles and forced the evacuation of some 1,300 homes in foothill communities northeast of Los Angeles.

It is not yet clear how the two died, but a sheriff's statement says the remains were significantly affected by the fire.

Officials have not released the identities of the victims.
