10-Foot Shark Spotted Off Salt Creek Beach In Dana Point

DANA POINT (CBSLA.com) — Swimmers were warned to beware of sharks Wednesday after a sighting at Salt Creek Beach in Dana Point.

A 10-foot shark was spotted about 300 yards off the coast of Salt Creek Point late Tuesday afternoon, prompting lifeguards to get everyone out of the water, OC Parks spokeswoman Marisa O'Neil said.

There were no more shark sightings through the rest of the afternoon and evening, she said.

Warning signs have been posted at Salt Creek Beach, which will remain open for the time being.

"As of this morning, the beach is open but it is under advisory until at least 3 p.m. today," O'Neil said.

Signs have been posted along Salt Creek and Strands beaches.
