Air Quality Will Likely Reach Unhealthful Levels Due To Fireworks, Experts Warn
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A particulate advisory was in effect for parts of Southern California through Tuesday as air quality was expected to reach unhealthful levels.
Officials with the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) warned that fireworks could dramatically increase air pollution in the LA Basin and Coachella Valley.
"Emissions from fireworks are expected to contribute to elevated concentrations of particulate matter," the agency said on its website.
Emission levels were expected to remain elevated through Tuesday morning, according to the AQMD.
