Man Suspected Of Making Threats At US Marines Recruitment Center Arrested With Fake Gun

LANCASTER (CBSLA.com) — A man who authorities say threatened soldiers at a U.S. military recruitment center in Lancaster was arrested Tuesday.

Sheriff's deputies responded to a business disturbance call along the 44500 block of Valley Central Way after the suspect walked in and out of the Marine Corps. Office at the Military Recruitment Center, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Deputy Joshua Stamsek.

When the suspect was asked to leave "due to his disruptive behavior", he then threatened military personnel inside the office "while simultaneously lifting his shirt up and brandishing the buttstock of a gun", Stamsek said.

After brandishing the weapon, he then fled the location, but deputies were able to detain him just a short distance away, according to Stamsek.

Deputies found an fake gun in the suspect's waistband, Stamsek said. Authorities say he was also found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest

The unidentified suspect was booked at Lancaster Sheriff's Station and was being held on $145,000 bail.
