Elon Musk Tweets Tesla Model S Is Mostly Car, Maybe A Little Boat

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Elon Musk claims his Tesla Model S can be amphibious, at least for short periods of time.

Musk watched video of a Model S driving through a flooded tunnel, then tweeted about what he saw.

The video appears to show the car floating, and moving forward under the driver's direction until it reaches pavement again, then driving normally.

The video hasn't been independently verified.

Musk has toyed with the idea of amphibious cars. In 2013, he bought the Lotus Espirit vehicle used in the 1977 James Bond film "The Spy Who Loved Me." He reportedly paid almost a million dollars for it at a London auction.
