Red Hot Chili Peppers Cancel Weenie Roast Show After Anthony Kiedis Hospitalized

IRVINE (CBSLA.com/AP) — The Red Hot Chili Peppers were forced to cancel their set at KROQ's Weenie Roast Saturday night when singer Anthony Kiedis was hospitalized with intestinal flu.

"We're unable to play this evening," bassist Flea told the crowd at Irvine Meadows. "We're devastated about it... We live to rock."

Weezer played an extended set in light of the emergency, KROQ's Ted Stryker said.

Additional details of Kiedis' condition were released Sunday.

Kiedis was taken to the hospital after experiencing "complications from the intestinal flu," band spokesman Brian Bumbery told The Associated Press.

As a result, the Chili Peppers will postpone a concert for iHeart Radio scheduled for Tuesday in Burbank, California, he said.

"They would like to extend their gratitude to the fans for the outpouring of well wishes," he said.
