Mother, 67, Daughter, 41, Arrested For Fatal Hit-And-Run Accident That Left 81-Year-Old Man Dead Last Month

GLENDALE (CBSLA.com)  —  The Glendale Police Department on Friday announced the arrests of a mother and daughterr for their role in the hit-and-run last month that left an 81-year-old pedestrian dead.

Goar Davtyan, 67,  of Glendale was taken into custody just before 6 p.m. Investigators had previously identified Davtyan as a person of interest early on in the investigation.

An arrest was not immediately made at the time until additional evidence was collected and processed.

Davtyan was charged with felony hit & run and felony vehicular manslaughter. Her daughter, Alina Davtyan, 41, of Glendale was also arrested for accessory to a crime and filing a false insurance claim.

Officials said the case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for filing considerations.

The fatal hit-and-run happened around 8 p.m. on April 16. The man was crossing Broadway at the intersection of Belmont Street when he was struck by a white sedan, likely a Camry.

The victim, who sustained massive head injures, was later identified as Martiros Arutyunyan of Glendale.

Police said he was legally crossing when he was struck.
