Hollywood Filmmaker Rob Reiner On Trump Supporters: 'A Lot Of People Who Are Racist'
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — How does famed Hollywood director Rob Reiner explain the success of presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump?
"There are a lot of people who are racist," Reiner said during an appearance on the "Morning Joe" show Thursday.
Reiner, a longtime fundraiser for Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party, was asked by the show's co-host Willie Geist how Reiner would explain "the millions and millions of people" who support Trump.
His answer appeared to shock the show's entire panel, but when asked if he thinks all supporters of Trump are racist, Reiner replied, "They're not all racists."
He then compared Trump supporters with those of Democratic nominee Bernie Sanders.
"Do you see any racist people at the Bernie rallies?" Reiner asked.
"I can't see into their heart," replied host Joe Scarbourough.
