Donald Trump A Hot Topic On Famous Olvera Street Following Taco Tweet

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Donald Trump was a hot topic on famous Olvera Street this Cinco de Mayo after posting a photograph of himself eating a taco bowl.

He captioned the picture:

"HappyCincoDeMayo! The best taco bowls are made in Trump Tower Grill. I love Hispanics!"

"I think that's just wrong. That is just wrong," said Mary Rivera, who was celebrating the holiday on Olvera Street.

"I don't find it offensive," said Jesse Sandoval, another reveler. "I just find it hypocritical."

According to a recent Gallup poll, nearly 80 percent of Hispanics find Trump unfavorable.

Stopping illegal immigration is one of the central tenets of his campaign and at a rally Thursday night, he once again vowed to build a large wall at the border with Mexico.

"We'll build the wall, don't worry about it," Trump said "Who's going to pay for the wall?"

But critics have seized upon his post.

Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton tweeted out a video with Spanish subtitles highlighting Trump's past comments on deporting illegal immigrants.

Comedian Samantha Bee released her own homage of sorts, saying: "The best taco bowls are made by immigrants who resent a rich [expletive] calling them rapists. Love inauthentic Mexican!"

Meanwhile, former Mexican President Vicente Fox has apologized for his previous comments condemning Trump's plan to build a border wall. He also invited Trump to Mexico to see what his country is all about.
