Baby Girl Killed In Porsche Rollover Crash Near Palm Desert
PALM DESERT (AP) — Authorities say a baby girl was killed after being thrown off a Porsche as it fell about 200 feet off the side of a mountain road near Palm Desert.
The California Highway Patrol said the Porsche crashed through a barrier on State Route 74 Sunday morning and tumbled down the side of the Santa Rosa Mountains.
The infant's body was found near the vehicle. A woman and man were in the Porsche: she was taken to the hospital for serious back injury while his injuries were less severe.
Officer Stephanie Hamilton told the Palm Springs Desert Sun speed was a factor in the crash. Investigators suspect the child may have been sitting in someone's lap because the Porsche only has two seats.
