Police Search For Leads In San Bernardino Car-To-Car Shooting
SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — Police need help to find the shooter who killed a man and a woman in a moving car Wednesday from another moving car in San Bernardino.
Officers were called to the area of 29th Street and Pershing Avenue on a report of shots fired at a moving vehicle from another moving vehicle at about 3:13 p.m. Wednesday and found two people who had been shot in a 1999 Honda that had crashed into the yard of a home, San Bernardino police officials said.
The driver, 19-year-old Ariel Bojorquez of San Bernardino, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger, a female whose age and name were not released, was taken to St. Bernardine's, where she was later died.
Bojorquez's family identified her as his girlfriend of three years. They lived with his sister, Valerie, not far from the crime scene.
"I was on my way home. He just said, 'Come home,' " said Valerie Bojorquez, who spoke with Ariel an hour before he was killed.
Bojorquez's family said he graduated from high school a year ago and wanted to join the military.
The suspects fled in a white, 4-door sedan, but no further suspect information was available, police said.
Detectives say there is no indication that the shooting was a gang-related incident and does not appear to be related to other recent shootings.
There have been 22 homicides in San Bernardino this year.

"We understand that retaliation is a big fear, but like I said there are ways to be anonymous so that no one knows it was you that was reporting," said Eileen Hards of the San Bernardino Police Department.
