Mom Slugged By Pregnant Woman In Park Doesn't Feel Safe Coming Back

PLAYA DEL REY (CBSLA.com) — A neighborhood mom says she'd always take her young kids to a Playa del Rey park, until last week, when she says she was attacked by another mom.

"She is a bully," said Linsey, who chose not to share her full name or show her face for fear of retaliation. "She needs to be held accountable for sure."

A boy who seemed to be all alone one day was pulling her daughter's hair.

"I removed his hand, and that's when the mom came flying into the park, telling me not to ... touch her child," Linsey said.

She said the other mom, who is pregnant, began to threaten her.

"I was, like, 'I'm not going to fight you; you're like nine months pregnant,' and she just pulled back and hit me in the face, punched me in the face," Linsey said.

When she called 911, she was hit again, leaving scratch marks.

A security guard for the area said he broke up the fight and told the pregnant woman to leave. By the time police showed up, the woman was gone. But police are investigating.

Other parents say they can't believe there would be violence here.

"You move to some place like Playa del Rey and you kind of feel like you're removed from that a little bit," said parent Mark Provencher. "That's part of the reason why you come here, so definitely a little disheartening."

Meanwhile, Linsey said she doesn't feel safe coming back.

"For another mother to act that way is beyond anything I can even begin to understand," she said.
