LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The final game of Kobe Bryant’s career was historic in many ways.
The Staples Center and the Lakers set the single-day record for most merchandise sold at any arena in the world by selling $1.2 million worth of gear on Wednesday night.
The average fan spent about $61 on merchandise alone, ESPN’s business reporter Darren Rovell reported.
“It says that fans are really appreciative of this moment and wanted to maybe have something they can remember,” Bryant said on the new record.
The $1.2 million worth of merchandise sold includes all high-end items as well.
For example, Staples center was selling eight hates made out of snake and lamb skin (costing $38,024) and eight hats made form cashmere with five diamonds on it (costing $24,008).
According to reports, only three of the hate went unsold.
