Long Beach Woman Found Fatally Stabbed Inside Her Apartment

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com)  —   Police in Long Beach say they have found the body of a woman inside an apartment.

The unidentified victim was fatally stabbed, police said.

When police arrived on scene following a call about an unspecified problem, they encountered a bloodied man who allegedly threatened them with a knife.

Officials said the man tried to keep police from entering the complex.

Police used less-than-lethal methods to subdue the man and gain access to the apartment in the 1200 block of Stanley Avenue.

They were able to gain entry around 12:50 p.m., said Long Beach Police Sgt. Brad Johnson.

The unidentified man was taken to a hospital with at least one stab wound and was listed in critical condition, according to the sergeant.

Sky9's Stu Mundel said the man was a suspect in the homicide, but his relationship, if any, to the as-yet unidentified victim was unclear, police said.

Homicide detectives were sent to the scene to investigate.
