2-Year-Old Child Dead, 4 Injured In Single-Vehicle DUI Rollover Crash In Hesperia

HESPERIA (CBSLA.com)  —  Officials are investigating a fatal DUI crash that claimed the life of a young girl and injured four others -- including three children -- in Hesperia.

The crash occurred Saturday about 11:10 a.m., according to deputies with the Hesperia station.

Deputies and rescue personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the single-vehicle rollover crash on Lake Arrowhead Road.

Upon arrival, officials determined a white, four door, Nissan Maxima was driving south on Arrowhead Lake Road. The vehicle passed a slower moving vehicle in the opposing lane before losing control for unknown reasons.

The vehicle left the roadway and overturned. A 2-year-old girl was ejected from the vehicle and killed.

A male driver and three other children ranging in age from 6-months to 8-years-old, suffered minor injuries.

The driver, the children's father, was arrested for suspicion of child endangerment and felony DUI. He was booked at the High Desert Detention Center in the City of Adelanto, officials said.

Arrowhead Lake Road was closed in the area of the collision from 11:30 a.m. until 7:30p.m. during the investigation which is on-going, authorities said.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to call Deputy Brian LoVasco, Deputy Simon DeMuri or Deputy Derek Zane at the Hesperia station (760) 947-1500.
