Virgin America Changes Logo In What Seems To Be An Early April Fools' Prank

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) - April Fools' Day might have came early for the Virgin America team as they rolled out a new company logo Thursday.

The logo - which resembles a bikini top -  was released via the company's corporate blog and is starting to pick up steam online.

To announce the emergence of the logo, Virgin America's website stated, "We're rolling out a new logo that captures the essence of our iconic brand. Get your hands on some sweet celebratory fares and head to a hot spot."

They also have made an introductory video featuring Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson explaining how and why he came up with the new image to brand the company.

Virgin America has taken advantage of this apparent April Fools' prank and all of the buzz it's created by offering a logo-themed sale and 20 percent off flights booked online.

If it is a prank, it wouldn't be the first time for Virgin: last year the airline announced it would begin service to Branson, Missouri, a destination that shares the same name as Branson, who helped create Virgin America in 2007.
